Dr. Richard Spencer, B.Sc., Ph.D., P.Geo
President & CEO
Richard has more than 20 years of global exploration experience in Zimbabwe, South Africa, Ecuador, Peru, Colombia, Argentina, Brazil and Venezuela. He holds a B.Sc. (Honours) degree in geology and a Ph.D. in geology from the University of the Witwatersrand, South Africa. He is a Professional Geologist (P.Geo) registered with the Association of Professional Geoscientists of Ontario and is a Chartered Geologist in the United Kingdom. Richard has held senior positions at Crystallex International and IAMGOLD Corp., most recently as Crystallex’s Vice President of Exploration. He was instrumental in the discovery of the 2.8 million ounce Quimsacocha gold deposit in Ecuador and the cluster of coppyer-molybdenum porphyries that contain a resource exceeding one billion tonnes, forming part of the Corriente Copper Belt in Ecuador. As well, measured and indicated resources in the Las Cristinas gold deposit in Venezuela increased by 4.5 million ounces during Richard’s tenure with Crystallex. He spent six years involved in exploration for gold and uranium in the Witwatersrand Basin in South Africa using seismic, basin analysis and mineral alteration techniques.
Richard Cleath, B.Sc, M.Sc.
Vice President (Guyana)
Rick has been working as a geologist for more than 23 years including over 14 years in Latin America. He holds a B.Sc. in geology from the University of Minnesota, Duluth, and a M.Sc. in geology from the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology. Most recently as Vice President, Exploration with Absolut Resources, Rick negotiated and acquired the Chaparra mesothermal gold vein project in southern Peru. He also led the acquisition of the advanced-stage Andorinhas high-grade gold project in Brazil. Rick brings extensive experience in exploration management, with a successful history of organizing, budgeting, planning and executing various mining projects around the world.
Dr. Hugo Bastias
Vice President (Colombia/Argentina)
Hugo is a geologist with more than 29 years of mining industry experience including senior management roles as the Exploration Manager for Argentina Gold Corporation and Business Manager of Mt. Isa Mines Ltd. in Argentina and South America. He joins U3O8 Corp. through our acquisition of Mega Uranium’s South American properties in April 2010, and was instrumental in building Mega’s strong holdings on that continent.
John Ross, CA
Chief Financial Officer
John brings over 25 years of experience in the financial management of Canadian publicly listed exploration and mining companies operating in South America, Africa and Canada. Previously, he served as Chief Financial Officer of Colossus Minerals Inc. (an advanced explorer in Brazil), Cronus Resources Ltd. (a gold explorer in Mexico, recently amalgamated with Continental Gold Limited), FNX Mining Company (a nickel and precious metal producer in the Sudbury Basin), and IAMGold Corp. (a gold producer with operations in Africa and exploration in Ecuador, Brazil and Argentina). John started his career in the mining industry at Rio Algom Limited. John was instrumental in FNX Mining’s transition from an exploration to a development company and he contributed to IAMGold’s development into an intermediate gold producer. He also implemented IAMGold’s decision to convert its cash to gold immediately prior to the sustained increase in the gold price.
Philip Williams, CFA
Vice President, Business Development
Phil brings 10 years financial market experience to U3O8 Corp. He was a uranium analyst focused on companies with advanced development projects around the world. He joins U3O8 Corp. through our acquisition of Mega Uranium’s South American properties in April 2010. Phil is also Vice President, Business Development with Mega Uranium Ltd.
Nancy Chan-Palmateer
Vice President, Investor Relations
Nancy has almost 20 years’ experience in the North American and European capital markets, leading investor relations and communication strategies through public listings, multiple acquisitions, issues management, a proxy fight, and through regulatory development. Most recently as Director of Investor Relations for TSX, NASDAQ and LSE-listed CryptoLogic Inc., she expanded analyst coverage and doubled the shareholder base, which contributed to a significant increase in market capitalization. Nancy also directed a $31 million placement with institutional investors, and led the company’s global lobbying initiatives. She has held senior positions at SLMsoft.com Inc, Quorum Growth Inc. and Merrill Lynch Canada.
