Responsible exploration – Doing the right thing

Vegetable farm at Aricheng exploration base camp

U3O8 Corp. is committed to sustainable development and building positive community relationships. Since inception, we have established a corporate social responsibility framework that includes sound health and safety programs for our employees, medical assistance to the local communities, responsible environmental practices at our exploration camp in Guyana and supporting local sourcing.

Responsibility to our employees. The health and well-being of our employees is of fundamental importance to the company. We have implemented sound policies and precautionary measures to create a safe and healthy workplace including the successful control of malaria which is endemic in the area, worker radiation monitoring devices (independently monitored by the Canadian National Dosimetry Service), protective gear, and contamination control and monitoring practices. We continue to develop a broader health and safety risk management program to expand our health and safety protocols.

Responsibility to local communities. We are developing supportive local relationships and special projects to create tangible, long-term benefits for Guyana. Over 85% of our employees are from Guyana, with more than 65% from the Amerindian community, Guyana’s indigenous people. Community contributions have included books and school supplies, tools, generators, solar panels, mechanical assistance and computer training. Ten students are enrolled in the University of Guyana’s geology degree program under U3O8 Corp’s sponsorship initiative. Read more

Responsibility to our environment. We are committed to environmentally-responsible exploration. We aim to minimize our footprint by using and improving existing exploration roads and limiting disturbance around new drill pads. We also have on-staff an Amerindian agronomist who develops and manages the camp’s vegetable farm.

Responsibility to our stakeholders. At U3O8 Corp., corporate social responsibility means doing the right thing. Our commitment to sustainable development aims to create sustainable value for our shareholders, our immediate communities, our employees and the company.
